Skills: Development

HeadwayRocket

I recently relaunched HeadwayRocket to coincide with the May 1st Reboot. The goal for the the new site was to simplify as much of sites infrastructure as possible and provide a much more efficient mobile experience.

For the new site, I chose the the static approach using Hammer for the local development, Cockpit for the content management and Paddle for the e-commerce side.

ThemeButler

ThemeButler is an experiment in ad-supported WordPress themes. The idea is simple. I create premium quality themes and other design resources and give them away for free. I don’t provide support, but there is a community forum and the option of paid support packages with one of our support partners.

Will it work? Only time will tell. Being that I’m flying solo again, I have a bit more wriggle room to test out new ideas. Worse case scenario is the WordPress community get a couple more quality free themes to choose from.

FaMC

I was approached by Chris and Bernice after they saw my work on HeadwayRocket. Both are counsellors by profession and they felt there was a need for an easier way to find counsellors in your area.

The first version of the site was focussed around the counsellor profiles and search. The project was put on hold due to other commitments.

Foodie

One of themes I'm working on for ThemeButler. Currently on hold until our recipe manager plugin is released.

Urbanite

One of the templates I designed and implemented for the official Headway template collection.

Molajo

After seeing some of the ideas I had posted about the Joomla! installer, Amy Stephens from Molajo reached out and asked if I would be interested in applying my ideas to Molajo's installer. With hopes that the improvements would trickle down to the Joomla! project, I quickly jumped on board.

The end result borrows from the WordPress mantra, decisions over options. The previous installer was some what clunky and cumbersome. The revised version is intentionally minimal, but there is a lot happening in the background to ensure quick and easy setup.

Banks

Banks is a clean, no-fuss theme for WordPress. It's built as a parent-theme, making it easy to layer on customisations via the child-theme that is automatically included when you install the theme via our free Backpack plugin.

While anybody can use the theme as is, a basic understanding of Hooks and Filters in WordPress will go a long way.
